The ‘Wolf Man’ teaser trailer has arrived – and fans have one major issue

The remake is scheduled to release on January 17, 2025

The first official teaser trailer for Blumhouse and Universal’s Wolf Man has arrived. You can watch it above.

The teaser comes on the back of yesterday’s (September 5) bizarre reveal of the Wolf Man’s design, which prompted mockery from fans on social media.

Directed by Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man), the upcoming film stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father who, after defending his family from an unseen animal, eventually transforms into the titular monster.

An official synopsis reads: “Blake inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth).

“But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter.

“As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.”

While the teaser refrains from showing the end result of his transformation, we do see Blake slowly lose his teeth and fingernails, before a clawed hand punches through a car window and reaches for his terrified wife.

The trailer appears to have gone down moderately well with fans, but many are still unable to see past the monster’s unconventional design, which was revealed yesterday at Universal Studios’s annual event Hollywood Horror Nights.

“This would look good if we didn’t already know how fucking awful the design for the WolfMan is…” posted one person on X.

Another wrote: “I’m so hype.. I just hope the design of the Wolf Man isn’t that atrocity from HHN because it will be very disappointing.”

Also starring Sam Jaeger, Ben Prendergast, and Benedict Hardie, and produced by Ryan Gosling (who was once attached to star, before Abbott took over the role), Wolf Man is scheduled to release in cinemas on January 17, 2025.
