Fans have been reacting after the trailer for Terrifier 3 landed this week (August 28) – check it out below.

The first teaser for the film was released back in July saw Art go on a killing spree at Christmas. While the extent of his kills remains under wraps, we get glimpses of the psychotic killer clown and his latest victims. At the gory end of the clip, Art lies in a pool of blood making blood angels.

The latest includes a nod to the famous shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho – except Art appears with a chainsaw, rather than a knife, and in another scene he is seen clasping an axe.

While Terrifier 3 carries a Christmas theme, you can expect to catch it in theaters around Halloween season, as it’s set for an October 11 release.

Last year, writer and director Damien Leone and Priscilla Smith, president and founder of French distributors The Coven, revealed that the third entry in the franchise will amp up the gore even more than its predecessors, and will carry a significantly larger budget.

Leone said: “Terrifier 3 will be another boundary pushing addition to the horror genre, continuing the no holds barred, uncompromising exploits fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate. If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

The original film in the slasher series, Terrifier, came out in 2018. Written and directed by Damien Leone on a budget of just $35,000, it kicked up a storm on social media thanks to its high levels of gore and earned enough at the box office for Terrifier 2 to be green-lit.

Made for around $250,000, the sequel (again helmed by Leone) built on this reputation, reportedly causing people to pass out in cinemas and taking more than $15million globally. Later, it was submitted for Oscars consideration in a fan-driven campaign led by horror specialist publication Bloody Disgusting, though came away empty-handed.

In other horror-related news, NME recently reviewed the much talked about Longlegs upon release, with James Mottram giving it four stars: “At its heart, Monroe is superb as Harker, offering up a buttoned-down performance that never breaks. Hopefully, Longlegs doesn’t get her pigeonholed as a Scream Queen; she deserves more. As for Cage, also a producer here, it’s just another worthy addition to his canon of crazies.

“Despite limited screentime, it might just be his most bonkers role yet. “Is it scary being a lady FBI agent?” asks one little girl of Harker. Well, when you’re confronted with Cage’s Longlegs, it most certainly is.”
