The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power features a bunch of new cast members in season two.
Created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the prequel series is set thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy and depicts the rise of Sauron in Middle-earth’s Second Age.
The show’s cast is led by Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, alongside Lenny Henry, Sara Zwangobani, Robert Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Daniel Weyman, and Charlie Vickers.
New cast additions in season two include Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, Tanya Moodie, Ben Daniels, Stuart Bowman, Kevin Eldon, and Oliver Alvin-Wilson.
Who plays Adar in The Rings Of Power season 2?
Sam Hazeldine replaces Joseph Mawle as Adar in the show’s second season. Hazeldine has starred in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, Peaky Blinders and Netflix’s The Sandman.
Why was Adar recast in season 2?
In a statement on Twitter, Mawle said he wanted to “explore new characters and worlds” beyond The Rings Of Power. Following the show, he’s had roles in Yellowstone prequel 1923 and historical drama Mary & George.

“I loved my time exploring Middle-earth and diving into Tolkien’s mythology,” Mawle wrote. “I’m so honoured that the character was liked. He cared deeply about telling you his story. Though as an actor it remains my wish, my job description to explore new characters and worlds.
“Wishing all the best to the cast and crew for season two, I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines.”
Speaking about taking on the role to Entertainment Weekly, Hazeldine said: “For me, the appeal was that he’s a dark character, but he doesn’t see himself as a villain.
“He’s just trying to protect his children, the Uruk. So he’s doing what he feels he has to do to save them from the genocide, whether that would be from Sauron, who sees them as cannon fodder, or from the elves.”
