Red Dead Redemption 2 won many game of the year awards, and got actor Roger Clark a best performance win at The Game Awards, but he still has one big regret from his time with Rockstar.
Speaking on the Gamology YouTube channel, as spotted by GameRant, Clark said, “the only thing I regret is saying Colm O’Driscoll incorrectly. Rockstar made me say it wrong. I told them it was wrong. They didn’t care.”
Colm O’Driscoll is the leader of rival gang the O’Driscoll Boys, and he’s Irish. “It’s pronounced Colom. It’s not Colm.” A clip is then shown of Sean and Kieran sat round a fire, with Sean berating Kieran for saying the name incorrectly, and teaching him the right pronounciation.
Considering the correct pronounciation is in the game and Rockstar is famous for its attention to detail, there’s a chance this was a concious choice the developers wanted to make for Arthur’s character, showing he either didn’t know how to pronounce Irish names properly or just didn’t respect Colm enough to try.
In the same video, Clark said the hardest thing about portraying Arthur was all the crouch running he had to do for the motion capture. “We crouch ran for, I think a couple of days,” Clarke said. “Cause you gotta crouch run, walk, stealth, drawn with one gun, drawn with two guns, then you gotta crouch run with a rifle. Three days later my thighs were absolutely killing me.”
the original Red Dead Redemption could finally be coming to PC, if a recent leak from the PlayStation store is to be believed.
