Oasis respond to Glastonbury 2025 rumours and the chances of other festivals

The Britpop band's huge reunion tour kicks off just after Glasto ends next summer

Oasis have responded to speculation over a potential headline set at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The Britpop band announced a huge UK and Ireland headline tour yesterday (August 27), dubbed Oasis Live ’25. Set to take place in July and August, the trek will see Liam and Noel Gallagher perform on stage together for the first time in 16 years.

The highly anticipated tour is currently made up of multiple gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

Further dates for the upcoming run are expected to be added soon due to huge demand. Plans for concerts outside of Europe are currently underway too.

Eagle-eyed fans soon noticed that Oasis’ UK and Ireland leg is scheduled to kick off just five days after Glastonbury 2025 ends – meaning the Gallaghers are currently free to top the Pyramid Stage.

However, yesterday’s tour announcement said the confirmed dates “will be the band’s exclusive European appearances”. Additionally, reports in The Guardian and Somerset Live also claimed that they would not be headlining the festival next year.

Now, Oasis have responded to the the whispers about Glasto in a post on social media. “Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year,” it began.

“The only way to see the band perform will be on their Oasis Live ’25 World Tour.” See the post below.

Oasis first headlined Glastonbury in 1995 – just one year after their debut appearance at Worthy Farm. They returned to headline the festival in 2004, but the performance received lacklustre reviews from fans and critics alike.

In a press conference from 2008, Noel commented on Oasis’ history at the festival saying: “We said the last time we done Glastonbury, we’ve never really pulled it off at Glastonbury… I don’t think.”

He continued: “I think the last time [2004], we had scrapped an album that was supposed to come out that week of that festival so it was a bit of a damp squib… I’ve always said about Glastonbury, it’s great to be at but it’s not great for people like us to play at.

“You don’t go on to 11 p.m., and all the people you’re with at five to 11 are absolutely battered.”

Both Liam and Noel have since performed at Glastonbury as solo artists, with the former’s previous band Beady Eye also having featured on the bill. Noel last appeared with the High Flying Birds in 2022, and he attended this year’s edition of the festival.
