MAMAMOO’s Hwasa announces sophomore mini-album ‘O’, drops cryptic teasers

"The wait is over"

MAMAMOO singer Hwasa has announced the upcoming release of her second mini-album, titled ‘O’.

Hwasa’s label, P Nation, took to social media today (September 9) to drop several teasers for the MAMAMOO singer’s upcoming mini-album. The first teaser released featured Hwasa reading a newspaper with the headline “HEY GUESS WHAT”, before folding it back to reveal the album’s release date.

The second teaser features Hwasa dancing to an instrumental track on the platform of Trocadéro Station of the Paris Métro, before the train whizzes past. The second teaser was captioned, “The wait is over”, and revealed that Hwasa’s upcoming mini-album will be titled ‘O’.

‘O’ will be released on September 19 at 6pm KST. More information about the project is expected in the coming days.

‘O’ will notably mark Hwasa’s first body of work since she released her debut solo mini-album ‘María’ in June 2020. The singer first debuted as a soloist in 2019 with the single ‘Twit’, and later released the single album ‘Guilty Pleasure’ in 2021.

‘O’ will also be Hwasa’s second music release since signing with P Nation last year, following the single ‘I Love My Body’ in September 2023. The single was also a response to her public indecency controversy.

In other K-pop news, BLACKPINK’s Jennie has recently signed with Columbia Records, in partnership with her own company, Odd Atelier. As part of the new partnership, Jennie is set to release new music as a soloist as early as this October. The forthcoming single will mark her first solo project since she released ‘You & Me’ in October 2023.
